Running of the Green

What better way to start your St. Patrick’s Day Saturday than with a 5-mile run through downtown? The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade Run starts at 9 a.m. today on Broadway (between Walnut and Clark streets; www.irishparade.org), and it’s more fun than it sounds. Most of the runners wear green and other Irish paraphernalia, and at the end of the course you reap the benefits of the Michelob ULTRA Runners’ Village, where free water, an energy drink and samples of the sponsor’s product (if you’re 21 or older, at least) are yours to enjoy. Not a bad way to start your day after all.
