For going on twenty years British singer/songwriter David Gray has pulled listeners into "the murky deep" — as he puts it on 2009's Draw the Line — that lies beneath the beguiling surface of his shimmery melodies. Far from being comparable to a summer's day, Gray's season is early winter, when the trees are bare and the air smells like wet wool and you're hung over. But it's Sunday, and the bed is warm because for the first time in a long while you had the good fortune to wake up next to someone you were happy to see.
