Go Indie, Together

When Ms. Day was but a wee little miss, she focused on her studies rather than on her wedding day. Dreams of cascading down an aisle situated in some kind of multi-tiered, glowing-white chiffon number to marry one of her childhood crushes never crossed her practical mind. And when she attends these kinds of affairs today, she always is filled with wonder at all of the planning and attempted dream fulfillment and, well, chiffon that go into these matrimonial occasions. If she were considering tying the knot at some point, she would look to make a different kind of statement, one that matched up more with her sensible sensibilities. And she would look to Off-White: An Indie Wedding Show for guidance. This event focuses on bringing green-minded couples together with 30 independent vendors and artists who can help add personal touches to your the big day. Held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Luminary Center for the Arts (4900 Reber Place), Off-White offers dance lessons, fashion shows, wine tastings and more, all to make planning easier and more individualized. To learn more about the show, visit www.offwhiteweddingshow.com; tickets cost $5 to $8.
