Everyday life is so dreadfully serious, what with the economy, politics, GMOs, rampant infidelity and cable television all steadfastly trying to bring us down. It's time we rebelled against this steaming mass of negative energy and had a little fun for a change — it's time to sweeten that sourpuss with Legally Blonde: The Musical. This fun romp through song and law books is based on the movie starring Reese Witherspoon, which is based on a book by Amanda Brown. In this rose-colored, glittery tale, sorority girl Elle Woods decides to win back her former beau by using brains above beauty and attending Harvard Law School, with her matchy pink ensembles and her Chihuahua, Bruiser, in tow. Will her efforts win back the heart of her college sweetheart? And how does this whole law school thing turn out anyway? Listen to Elle plead her case for fun at the Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1111 or www.metrotix.com) at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday (April 8 through 11). Tickets cost $27 to $68, and on Friday, April 9, if you buy an adult ticket, you get a child's ticket free (at the Fox box office) in honor of Kids' Night on Broadway.
