Climb Those Mountains

If you’re familiar with Mark Frost and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, you know that this short series from the early ’90s is bizarrely, puzzlingly, beautifully awesome. Perhaps you remember the excitement that came with watching each new episode, as special agent Dale Cooper tried to untangle the details of Laura Palmer’s murder and get a read on the characters in a small Washington town. If the details are a bit fuzzy now or if you’ve never even seen the show, White Flag Projects (4568 Manchester Avenue; 314-531-3442 or www.white-flag-projects.org) offers quite a treat: an All-Day, All-Night Twin Peaks Marathon, organized by Wash. U. student/artist Ryan Fabel, beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, April 17, and lasting through the evening of Sunday, April 18 (doors open at 8 p.m. on Saturday). During the screening of this show’s 30 episodes, commercials and weeklong breaks won’t keep you down — plus, some Twin Peaksexperts will likely be at the gallery to help you through the confusing parts. And there are some mind-benders, trust. Admission to the marathon is free, and be sure to bring along any comfy TV-watching accoutrements you might require (pillows, popcorn, coolers and such are all welcome).
