The worst part of any college semester is that rare occasion when you're required to make a public presentation of your work. The potential for embarrassment is huge, and the odds of the class bursting into rapturous applause for your treatise on Chaucer's use of color imagery are slim to none. And yet the students of Webster University's film and video program must screen their projects at 7:30 p.m. this evening in the Moore Auditorium on Webster University campus (470 East Lockwood Avenue; 314-968-7487 or www.webster.edu/filmseries), and the public is welcome. Hell, you're graciously invited — film students are a different breed. The Webster Student Film Festival features a swath of films that cut across genre and style, and chances are they'll be pretty good — rapturous applause good, even. Film is not as easy to fake as a paper, so most of the filmmakers have spent considerably longer than one all-nighter on their project. Admission to the fest is free.
