St. Louis' whimsical sculptor receives the first posthumous survey of his life's work thanks to the kindness of supporter, fellow-artist and friend, Matthew Strauss. Ernest Trova, the exhibition, charts the development of Trova's Falling Man series from its origin in his paintings to its eventual fame as his epic-scale sculptures (many of which still dot the public spaces of our fair city). Also on display are works that have not been seen publicly in more than four decades. www.etrova.org, a comprehensive website created especially for this exhibition, features images of Trova's work, his studio and clippings from his archive. Ernest Trova opens with a free public reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 5.
Wednesdays, Saturdays. Starts: June 5. Continues through July 17, 2010
