Ever heard of Russellville, Arkansas? Maybe if you're an avid pro-sports follower (the small town has spawned four NFL players, as well as former Sacramento Kings power forward Corliss Williamson), but in terms of a music scene, Russellville's last major contribution was Tom and Jerry composer Scott Bradley. All that is set to change with Deas Vail, however; the atmospheric indie-rock quintet is practically overloaded with talent. Frontman Wes Blaylock delivers positively ethereal vocals — think Copeland's Aaron Marsh — and the group's been on the road nonstop since the release of their third album, Birds & Cages, this past January. (They opened for Owl City in May at the Pageant.) But now that the band is headlining, expect it to dig deeper into its catalog — maybe it'll even crack open some chestnuts from 2005's This Place Is Painted Red.
