World Cup 2010

We're down to the nitty-gritty now. The teams have been winnowed down to just the good and the lucky -- and maybe not in the order. It's impossible to predict who's made it to these lofty heights (it's Germany and Brazil, isn't it?), but you can be sure that the anticipation of these final games will expand to fill your waking hours. "What's Miroslav Klose doing right now?," you'll ask yourself while brushing your teeth. "Will Thomas Mueller read my poems about him someday?," you'll wonder as you drift across three lanes of traffic. "Does Hans-Joerg Butt giggle every time he writes his own name on a check?" you'll ponder as you attempt to put out that small grease fire. Shh, shh, the World Cup is winding down, and it won't be back for another four years. Try to savor every last moment, every perfectly-weighted pass, every rasping shot from outside the box, every cross that explodes off a thrusting head and into the back of the net. Make this last, all of it. Click here for a list of venues showing every one of these precious remaining games.
Tue., July 6; Wed., July 7; Sat., July 10; Sun., July 11, 2010
