The Offspring/311

7 p.m. Friday, July 2. Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, 14141 Riverport Drive, Maryland Heights.

Ten years ago skaters would have wet their JNCO jeans over the Unity Tour, which features 311 and the Offspring. But unlike Bam Margera or Tech Deck fingerboards, the popularity of the former's reggae/rap/rock hybrid hasn't waned; singles such as "Down" and "All Mixed Up" remain radio staples. Co-headliner the Offspring has fared even better over time.  The "you've gotta keep 'em separated" hook of "Come Out and Play" is ingrained in our national consciousness, while "Self Esteem" is still a slacker anthem. "The Kids Aren't Alright" now lives on via Rock Band and 1994's Smash remains the best selling independent album of all time. These honors give the Offspring a free pass to permanent relevancy — at the very least, the band is forgiven for "Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)."
