Spell A Spell

In these days of automated spell-checks, foul text-message abbreviations and a populace that seems not to know the difference between "definitely" and "defiantly," does spelling really matter anymore? Have we given up on the whole enterprise, content to let computers correct our mistakes and allow our misspellings to become part of some LOLcat lexicon? The good people at Whats Up Magazine don't think so. The publication is sold by the city's homeless citizens as a means of transitional employment, and the magazine will continue to raise funds with this evening's Dizzy Spell, a charity spelling bee being held at the Archive (3215 Cherokee Street). The entrance fee is $10 and drinks will be available, though you may want to hold off the booze until your turn at the mic is over; no one likes a sloppy speller.
