Keep Your Head

Our world faces many problems, from oil spills to famine, from natural disasters to zombie attacks. Sure, the various news outlets cover those first three, and we feel generally informed about what's going on there. But what of these zombie attacks? We can say from firsthand experience that they are on the rise! Why, just this spring in nearby Chicago, zombies roamed the streets — during the day, no less! — in search of brains (naturally) and beers. And just where were the TV cameras then? Nowhere to be found! If the major media outlets aren't going to take zombies seriously, then we need to inform ourselves. The Soulard Safety Program wants to help. This group, along with the Soulard Business Association, screens Zombieland at dusk at Soulard Market Park (Lafayette Avenue and South Ninth Street; www.fyfstl.com). During this Ruben Fleischer horror-comedy flick, we'll learn how to survive in a world filled with zombies, should the worst happen, and we'll enjoy some laughs along the way, as the four main characters make their way through our zombie-strewn country. Admission to the screening is free, and the park gates open at 7 p.m. Feel free to bring your own eats, drinks, and a blanket or lawn chairs — plus, a pen and paper to take notes.
