Summertime, Party Time
The summertime and its hot days bring along scores of distractions. There are mosquitoes and sweat stains, broken-down air conditioners and stickiness. All it takes are a few itchy bites and a scorcher of a day to make you forget everything that is wonderful, relaxing and fun about the warm-weather season. A fiesta has the power to bring that carefree happiness back, and celebrity chef Rick Bayless provides a how-to guide for hosting the perfect affair. Fiesta at Rick's: Fabulous Food for Great Times with Friends ($35), Bayless' newest cookbook, offers south-of-the-border recipes and party-planning pointers, and the chef himself even comes to town, as the guest of Left Bank Books, to share more guidance. Visit with Bayless and listen as he chats with Charlie Brennan of KMOX (1120 AM) at 7 p.m. at the Ethical Society of St. Louis (9001 Clayton Road, Richmond Heights).
