Fine Feathered Fracas

It looks like cult favorite Troll 2 has some competition for the best worst movie you'll ever see: James Nguyen's ultra-low-budget Birdemic: Shock and Terror has arrived on the wings of extraordinarily poorly animated birds. Things are going great for Rod; he's rising in the ranks at his job shilling software, and he's coupled up with his out-of-his-league high school crush, Nathalie. Trouble starts when acid-spitting, highly explosive (!) birds begin randomly attacking the city, endangering lives and threatening his success. Partly inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's work of genius, The Birds, and presumably also loosely based on real life events of Nguyen himself who worked in Silicon Valley as a software salesman, Birdemic is the sort of bad that's perfect for late-night movie screenings. And so the Tivoli Theatre (6350 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-995-6270 or www.landmarktheatres.com) presents Birdemic at midnight Friday and Saturday (August 6 and 7) at part of its Reel Late series. Tickets are $9.
