More About

When contemplating the pros and cons of bicycles vs. cars, it's important to consider this inescapable fact [takes lungbusting bong hit] if America were bike-centric, the Gulf would be flooded with legs instead of oil. And that would be awesome [exhales cumulonimbus cloud, giggles maniacally]. So, yeah. Think about putting more bikes in your life — that's the message of the New Belgium Urban Assault Ride, a combination bike race/obstacle course that also offers a fun way to spend your Sunday. Meet at 9 a.m. at Langenberg Field in Forest Park (next to the tennis courts), and from there depart on a 25-to-35 mile tour of the city, depending on the route you choose, all on bike paths and bike routes. Along the way you have to hit predetermined checkpoints and best an obstacle at each stop before continuing on. Obstacles include challenges such as bicycle limbo, human bowling, piggyback polo and the paperboy relay. Registration is $60 per team member, with some special pricing available if you're willing to volunteer at the information-packet table; visit www.urbanassaultride.com for more information and to register. Note there is no day-of-ride registration, so plan ahead.
