Cypress Hill was instrumental in putting both West Coast rappers and Latin hip-hop on the map. The ganja-loving group, which formed in 1988, is also among a handful of legends from the genre's Golden Age to remain both active and relevant. (And just imagine how many pounds of weed it's consumed in those two decades.) Although its new album, Rise Up, took six years to see a release, B-Real, DJ Muggs, Sen Dog and Eric Bobo have stayed visible through various solo projects, political activism and a partnership with World Wrestling Entertainment. The latter's the perfect match for Cypress' cinematically violent rhymes and the rock-rap the group helped pioneer.
