Excavation of the Omaha trio's Slumber Party Records debut, My Name Is What Is Your Name, finds imprints of the pre-grunge/post-punk era: pop songs fossilized by eons' worth of Marshall-stacked noise. Even the occasional moments of ethereal fretwork display a punk band's glorious lack of restraint. Noah's Ark Was A Spaceship proves worthy of its excellent name, pummeling its cymbals, bass strings and stomp boxes with the vigor of the 2001: A Space Odyssey primates discovering how to use bones as weapons.
