Cowboy Turns Five

Most birthday parties for five-year-olds involve cake, some balloons, a little singing. Chip Schloss and Jim Kellogg decided to go large for their five-year-old's birthday: Circo Atomico is a full-blown circus to celebrate half a decade of fun and frolic with their baby, Atomic Cowboy (4140 Manchester Avenue or www.atomic-cowboy.com). The 9 p.m.-to-3-a.m. blowout features sword swallowers, fire performers, a full-blown sideshow, carnival midway, live music and other special surprises. Tickets for the big night out cost $10, and a portion of the proceeds benefit Circus Flora, another great local organization that happens to be celebrating a birthday this year (No. 25). E-mail atomic@alivemag.com to reserve your tickets — they're going fast.
