Though its namesake print magazine ceased publication in September, the inaugural Paste Tour rolls on. The lineup features popular rootsy-rock acts and lesser-known groups that specialize in spare, delicate folk. Headliners Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit make the kind of solid, twang-twinged rock you'd expect from a former Drive-By Trucker. Rowdy jug-band leader (and friend of the Avett Brothers) Langhorne Slim sports a pork-pie hat and likes to hit his knees while shredding acoustic. Featured in Paste's "Best of What's Next," Mimicking Birds released its debut with Isaac Brock's Glacial Pace Recordings earlier this year. It's an album of gently strummed and harmonized songs full of everyday sounds like a creaking door — but they feel ethereal.
