The word "breathtaking" is often overused, but when it's used to describe the work of accomplished photographer and frequent National Geographic contributor Murat Türemis it is most appropriate. In 2005, Türemis visited the remains of Banda Aceh, Indonesia, in the aftermath of the devastating tsunami. He recently returned to Indonesia to photograph the same locations. The May Gallery of Webster University (8300 Big Bend Boulevard; 314-246-7673 or www.webster.edu/maygallery) presents Murat Türemis: After the Tsunami, a collection of images capturing the changes that have taken place in the past five years. The show opens with a free public reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 29. The May Gallery's hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and the exhibition remains up through Wednesday, November 24.
