Suicidal Tendencies

7 p.m. Tuesday, November 2. Pop's, 401 Monsanto Avenue, Sauget, Illinois.

With sales around 200,000, Suicidal Tendencies' 1983 debut album was by far the top-selling old-school hardcore record of its time. Four years later, the band's long-overdue second LP, Join the Army, was both seminal and craptastic. The disc traded the first album's circle-pit power chords for a fusion sound of punk, barrio funk and — in a move all but unthinkable at the time — rap on the album's title track. The band rerecorded Army tracks and cuts from No Mercy, singer Mike Muir and guitarist Mike Clark's metal side project, for the new LP, No Mercy Fool!/The Suicidal Family.
