If you want disposable pop or comically ignorant hip-hop, a major label is the place to be, but the lack of guitar-based bands on their rosters is astounding. Lucky for us, Terrible Things is trying to reverse that injustice. Signed to Universal Motown, the band — which features former Taking Back Sunday guitarist/vocalist Fred Mascherino, former Hot Rod Circuit frontman Andy Jackson and former Coheed and Cambria drummer Josh Eppard — has plenty of experience writing engaging, exciting rock songs. The band's self-titled debut is the kind of album that deserves to be in every music fan's collection; it's a dynamic collection of rockers ("Up At Night"), ballads ("Been Here Before") and even a few stylistic left turns ("Conspiracy").
