Cinematic Titanic: Stunken Treasure

Just as James Cameron took the Titanic and turned it into box-office gold, so has Mystery Science Theater 3000 creator Joel Hodgson used his Midas touch to raise cinema's greatest unintentional disasters and turn them into comedy treasures. Tonight at 7 p.m., Joel and MST3K alumni Trace Beaulieu (Crow), Frank Conniff (TV's Frank), J. Elvis Weinstein (Tom Servo) and Mary Jo Pehl (Dr. Pearl Forrester) return to the Family Arena (2002 Arena Parkway, St. Charles; 636-896-4200 or www.familyarena.com) under the moniker Cinematic Titanic to riff on a bad movie before a live audience. This year's film is Rattlers, a wildly entertaining 1976 stinker of the "when animals attack" variety. The plot is thin, the production values are low, and the snakes always outsmart their victims — all adding up to perfect fodder for the Cinematic Titanic team. Tickets are $35 to $50.
