Love on the Cutting Room Floor

Every rom-com produced in the last millennium would have you believe that you'll meet your soul mate in the most unlikely place and that they will be the most unlikely person. In Stephen Sondheim's Marry Me A Little, the perfect soul mates live in the same apartment building, and they're actually quite well matched (he's a successful businessman, she's a young actress); the problem is they never meet. Built around songs cut from various Sondheim musicals and shows that were never staged, Marry Me A Little features our couple singing about each other with out knowing how close they are to each other. But that's life, isn't it? Even when you don't know what you're missing, you can feel you're missing it. Citilites Theatre presents Marry Me A Little at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday (November 5 through 21) at the Gaslight Theatre (358 North Boyle Avenue; 314-773-1879 or www.citilitestheatre.com). Tickets are $15 to $20.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Nov. 5. Continues through Nov. 21, 2010
