Which Witch Is Which? And/or Summertime, the new exhibition at White Flag Projects (4568 Manchester Avenue; 314-531-3442 or www.whiteflagprojects.org), draws its title from the children's book, Which Witch Is Which? The central question of that book — how can you tell apart two identical red-haired girls dressed as witches — is also the thrust of the exhibition. Here is video and photographic art that delves into the processes of decision and certainty. How do we determine what is real and what is artifice? At what point do we accept something is real, and perhaps the more important question is, when we're in that moment of uncertainty about reality, where are we? Michel Auder, Leigh Ledar and Tamar Halpern create work that challenges you to decide if we know reality when we see it, or if we make reality when we pronounce something real. Which Witch Is Which? and/or Summertime opens with a free public reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, November 6. The show remains up through Saturday, December 18, and the gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday.
