And Here Come the Snowballs ...

The thing about snowmen is that they're cute but goofy. Sorta don't put a lot of thought into what they're doing. So, when a certain snowman named Snowman (See? Goofy.) encounters Santa's workshop, he believes he'll move right in and take over the joint so that all that happiness and Christmas cheer comes to him. Santa, existing only on a diet of cookies, candy and milk, is himself a bit jittery (you don't say) and responds with the full military might of his toy shop and elf army. Santa vs. the Snowman, the animated film recounting this forgotten war, culminates in a child's dream world snowbattle, as elves and roboticized toys tackle a foe who only needs to scoop up more snow to be made whole again. The film screens daily at the Saint Louis Science Center's OMNIMAX theater (5050 Oakland Avenue; 314-289-4424 or www.slsc.org) through Thursday, December 30. Tickets are $8 to $9.
