Untamed Evenings

Contrary to what many Christmas cards and holiday specials would have you believe, penguins don't really live at the North Pole. It's true that a few migrate northward to help Santa with his many duties, but truth told, you'll find a lot more of our fine-feathered fowl at the illuminating Penguin & Puffin Coast, which will be shining bright during the Saint Louis Zoo's Wild Lights celebration. Hundreds of thousands of colorful lights and animated displays transform the zoo into a wild and wooly winter wonderland. Plenty of activities and attractions are planned, including fireside storytelling, puppet shows and live performances by local choirs. The Wild Lights are on display from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday (November 26 through December 24), and then daily from Sunday, December 26, through Thursday, December 30, at the Saint Louis Zoo in Forest Park (314-781-0900 or www.stlzoo.org). Admission is $5, with an extra charge for the Glacier Run and Conservation Carousel.
Fridays-Sundays; Dec. 26-30. Starts: Nov. 26. Continues through Dec. 23, 2010
