Dress Up, Drink Up

You know that guy you frequently spend the evening with, the one who makes the perfect boilermaker and always freshens the peanut bowl? Yeah, he and his female counterparts don't just ease your daily pain through the magic of alcohol — every year, the men and women who dispense our favorite beverages get together for the Bartenders' Charity Ball, which, as the name implies, benefits others. This year's ball is the twentieth edition of the popular party, which means one more year and it can drink. Just kidding, there will be plenty of drinks flowing at the Hyatt Regency at the Arch (315 Chestnut Street; 314-531-9465 or www.bartenderscharityball.org) tonight from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Your $80 admission fee garners you a gourmet buffet, access to the premium open bar and live entertainment from Lola van Ella's Burlesque Army and Superjam. This is a ball, so dress accordingly — the bartenders always put on their best, so you should, too. Proceeds benefit Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center, Saint Louis Effort for AIDS and Operation Liftoff. Keep in mind, this is a 21-and-older event.
