In sports terminology, 2010 has been a "rebuilding year" for Hawthorne Heights. Once kings of the Warped Tour screamo heap, the Dayton, Ohio, band suffered through the death of guitarist Casey Calvert plus numerous lawsuits involving its old record label and management. Mega-indie Wind-up Records gave the group a second chance, though, and earlier this year Hawthorne Heights released its fourth album, Skeletons. As is common in the music industry today, Skeletons debuted relatively high on the Billboard 200 before tumbling off the charts. Don't let that color your opinion of the album, though: It's a rich, realized rock record that finds the band reinvigorated and hungry to win back much of its old fan base. Of course, the way to do that is get back out on the road, which is something these guys aren't afraid to do. The band might not be on a tour bus anymore, but that doesn't mean its songs are any less poignant.
