It's been a long week, and you still have a few days to go before you can boot the kids out of the house and in the general direction of school. You're looking for a diversion, and the Winter Break Puppet Show at the St. Louis Carousel in Faust Park (15189 Olive Boulevard, Chesterfield; 314-615-8383) is just the thing. At 9:30 a.m., local puppeteers perform a short and sweet story for the kids, and admission is just $5 to $6. To round out your morning, admission includes one free ride on the vintage carousel; additional rides are just $1, so you might take a couple spins yourself. Incidentally, the carousel will be closed for maintenance from January 1 through 21, so enjoy it while you still have the opportunity.
