Burlesque Battle
The burlesque revival continues unabated, which inevitably leads to one thing: a burlesque death match. And so tonight at 9 p.m. at Off Broadway (3509 Lemp Avenue; www.offbroadwaystl.com), Lola van Ella presents the Shimmy Showdown. Twelve ecdysiasts will enter this modern day Thunderdome to shake their thunderdomes, but only one can leave victorious. As Van Ella is a frontline soldier in the burlesque war (although she’s justifiably famous for her backline, wink-wink), she’ll also be performing with luminaries such as Katrina Dohl, Michelle Mynx and Tess von Twinkle. Clothing will be removed, booms will be chikka’d and prizes will be won. Tickets are $15 to $18.
