The threat posed by global climate change is ongoing, expanding and frighteningly real. While documentarians startle the populace awake by showing polar bears sadly adrift on ice floes, most changes occur in a far more gradual – yet no less damaging – way. In a word: Yikes. What can we do about the human-made phenomenon that’s altering our planet? For starters, we can get educated. Climate Change, the new exhibition inside the Exploradome at the Saint Louis Science Center (5050 Oakland Avenue; 314-289-4400 or www.slsc.org), provides a comprehensive look at the crisis. View the impact that climate change has on our air, land and seas, and learn how everyone from governments to individuals can make a positive difference. Climate Change features hands-on activities that show how our planet copes with climate-change side effects (such as droughts and wildfire), offers information about alternative energy sources that can shrink our carbon footprints, and lends insight into how St. Louis companies and organizations are facing issues related to climate change. There is no cost to visit Climate Change, which remains on display through Sunday, June 5.
