Fans of pure electropop owe it to themselves to check out Dot Dot Dot, a coed quintet formed in 2007 by members of two Chicago-area cover bands. Unsurprisingly, this background explains the professional, airtight approach found on this year's II EP. Akin to modern keyboard-heavy acts such as Alphabeat or Shiny Toy Guns and old-school new-wave acts such as ABC and Duran Duran, the EP sounds like the '80s puking all over the happiest party on Earth. "Antidote" is begging to be mashed up with Prince's "I Would Die 4 U," while standout "Stay" is a giddy, disco-rock explosion drenched in keyboards and totally bitching guitars. Aspiring synthpop nerds, take note: This is the way slick pop music should be done.
