Despite fronting one of the finest bands mid-'90s emo had to offer (the terribly short-lived Texas Is the Reason), Garrett Klahn has spent a large part of the past decade musically silent. The singer has finally resurfaced in Atlantic/Pacific with his friend John Herguth (ex-House & Parish), but if you're looking for powerful, cathartic post-hardcore, move along: A/P's sound is subdued, withdrawn and delicate, built on subtle rhythms and acoustic guitars. Klahn's voice, once a powerful howl, has shifted into a delicate warble, which makes for some serious goosebumps-worthy moments when it intermingles with Herguth's breathy tenor. It might not incite mosh pits and sing-alongs, but Atlantic/Pacific certainly know its way around a melody.
