Sure, it might've started off as a British penal colony, but Australia has turned into quite the nice, laid-back country over the past few decades, giving us loads of A-list celebrities as sun-kissed as the sand on their beaches. So why is Aussie metalcore quintet Parkway Drive so gosh-darn angry? The band's new album, Deep Blue, is more or less a concept record about how the world's coming to an end and we're all doomed (even though it has enough in the way of breakdowns to make the mesh-shorts-wearing masses cut the shit and start the pit). We're not saying Australians can't be mad — we'd be mad, too, if we were responsible for Silverchair and the Vines — but when you live in the land of koalas and kangaroos, wouldn't you at least try to see the sunny side of life?
