Is That All There Is?

Well, all good things must come to an end. At midnight tonight, all the indulging and drinking — oh, the drinking — must cease when Fat Tuesday ends and Ash Wednesday begins. Unless, you know, you're not Catholic — then the party resumes Thursday night after a one-day cooling-off period. But if you'd like to close out the 2011 Mardi Gras season with one last bash, the Lumière Place Light Up the Night Fat Tuesday Parade gets under way at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Broadway. There will be more floats, more bead-throwing, more revelry, more of everything that helps pass the time until St. Patrick's Day gets here; what a long nine days this year's wait will be. Admission to the Fat Tuesday parade is free, but bring money for drinks and good times at the various downtown businesses along the route. For more information, visit www.mardigrasinc.com.
