A Less Terrifying Wedding

Marriage ceremonies honor and codify, in front of family and friends, the love two people feel for one another, and in that respect they're truly beautiful occasions. But weddings can also seem to be oriented more toward the hugely lucrative wedding industry (from the groom's perspective, anyway; maybe some brides feel the same way) and its attendant 10,000 bells and whistles, and less to the actual couple being wed. The Off White Indie Wedding Show aims to change that. OWIWS, the brainchild of Brea McAnally, provides the solution for indie-minded area brides seeking a more individualized and community-friendly approach to their big-event planning. Today from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., attend the show at Third Degree Glass Factory (5200 Delmar Boulevard; 314-650-6848 or www.offwhiteweddingshow.com) and meet the more than 50 vendors who can guide you through the planning, catering and outfitting of your very special day. There'll be a cake tasting and a fashion show, and vendors will have select items on sale so you can get a jump on your to-buy list. Tickets for the show are $10 and are available at the door.
