"Craic," a Gaelic word that means "fun" or "merriment" or "good times" or any other sort of implied party and is pronounced "crack," is the rallying cry of St. Patrick's Day. One can only find craic in a social setting, so it follows that the bigger and more boisterous the gathering, the better the craic. Tigin Irish Pub (333 Washington Avenue; 314-241-8666 or www.tiginirishpub.com/stl) would like to be your wholesale craic dealer this St. Patrick's Day. The pub opens at 7 a.m. for Pints and Pancakes (just what it sounds like), and there's no cover if you get in the door before 11 a.m. The rest of the day will be spent enjoying live music in the heated tent (if needed), with guest performers the Steve Ewing Duo, Richie Kihlken, Come Closer and DJ John Winkler. Food and drink will be in plentiful supply, because making craic is hungry and thirsty work.
