Praise Venus
Venus Envy, a celebration of women in the visual and performing arts, returns after a brief hiatus with a two-night event appropriately called Venus Rising. The Venus Rising Preview Party takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 25, at Mad Art Gallery (2727 South Twelfth Street) and features female musicians and burlesque performers in addition to all the artists and their artworks; admission is $25 to $1,000. Saturday, March 26, is the actual Venus Rising party, and it showcases more female musicians, artists and, yes, burlesque performers, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Mad Art.
