Sisters Doin' It For Themselves

March is Women's History Month, and it's almost over. If you haven't celebrated women yet, worry not — Chamber Project Saint Louis has you covered with Girl Power, a program of chamber music composed by women and performed by women. In a nice twist, the featured composers are all alive and well and writing music right now; this is women's history as it's happening. You'll hear the headlong rush of Jennifer Higdon's DASH (version C, for flute, soprano saxophone and piano) as well as version nine of Adrienne Albert's Doppler Effect (for flute, clarinet and piano), which was inspired by the composer hearing passing sirens in dense heavy Italian traffic. Chamber Project Saint Louis celebrates women twice over at 7 p.m. in the Grigg gallery at the Saint Louis Art Museum in Forest Park (314-721-0072 or www.slam.org). Admission is free.
Fri., March 25, 2011
