More About

While a bare-bones duo from Detroit called the White Stripes was trying to make inroads in the nation's oft-insular garage rock scene, an Ohio band called the Greenhornes was making a modest-size stir with its shaggy update of primal, blues-based rock & roll. The two bands' paths would cross in a fortuitous fashion: Jack White pilfered drummer Patrick Keeler and bassist Jack Lawrence to be the rhythm section for the Raconteurs, and the latter would continue to hold down the low end for the Dead Weather. Luckily for fans of the band (and for singer/guitarist Craig Fox), the Greenhornes refused to become a casualty of White's curious brand of star-making machinery, and last year the trio released **** (a.k.a. Four Stars) with plenty of fuzz and fury. The Blind Eyes, St. Louis' own garage-pop power trio, will open the show.
