Nowhere, Man

So here we sit in the knowable age, where we not only broadcast our favorite bands and marital status, but our very location to the world at large. Even foursquare's old hat. Anonymity is the new unknown (sorry), a recent living memory that seems to be exiting through the back door. Seven artists of various disciplines and national origins tackle the notion of being unknown as a revolutionary act in How to Disappear, the new show at the Luminary Center for the Arts (4900 Reber Place; theluminaryarts.com). From video installations to photo diptychs to performance pieces, How to Disappear explores literal vanishing: into the background, into the crowd, into thin air. The exhibit opens with a free public reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 8, and the work remains on display Wednesday through Saturday through Friday, May 20.
Wednesdays-Saturdays. Starts: April 8. Continues through May 20, 2011
