Take Large Bites

Maplewood has transformed itself from a somewhat sleepy inner-ring suburb to a happening destination that offers entertainment and diversions for all ages. Those diverse good times come together on one street today, as the Taste of Maplewood returns to jump-start the summer festival season. Sutton Boulevard (starting at Manchester Road) becomes a pedestrian market stocked with vendors from Maplewood eateries selling ready-to-eat favorites such as burritos from Las Palmas and po' boys from Boogaloo, as well as gourmet chocolate, coffee, desserts and the various Schlafly Bottleworks products. In addition to all the food and drink options, two stages host live bands, a demonstration by Three Rivers Aikido and theatrical performances by the Piwacket Theatre. Taste of Maplewood takes place from noon to 9 p.m. today, and admission is free, but you're obviously going to need to bring your wallet to fully partake of everything on offer.
