For a band that started out in Denton, Texas, as something between a joke and ploy to score some free drink tickets, Slobberbone has pieced together a respectable run at a career. Building off songwriter Brent Best's verbose, droll Southern prose, The band hit its stride with a string of cow-punk classics on Everything You Thought Was Right Was Wrong Today (2000) and Slippage (2002). It won the hearts of listless barflies and best-selling horror authors alike; Stephen King declared the band's breakup-fuck-you anthem "Gimme Back My Dog" one of the top three rock & roll songs ever written. After hanging it up in 2005, Slobberbone returned in 2009 and treated fans to a string of successful reunion shows. With talk of a new album in the works, the band is back on the road, spilling its whiskey-soaked guts at the same old haunts where the members found themselves hoarding drink tickets back in the early days.
