Happy birthday, Bob Dylan! What do you give the rock hero who has everything? How about a night of tributes from a bunch of great bands that benefits community radio? Brothers Lazaroff, Rough Shop, Magnolia Summer, Cassie Morgan & the Lonely Pine and many other local folk-inspired bands will play their favorite Dylan songs, and all proceeds go to KDHX (88.1 FM). While covers can be a dicey proposition, this sort of tribute night brings out the love local artists have for their heroes, which shines through the music. These bands are not just playing the songs the audience wants to hear — they're playing the songs that made them dream of being musicians in the first place. Mr. Zimmerman would approve.
