More About
Becky is your typical middle-age, working-class mom. Her marriage has become nothing more than a comfortable convenience, and her live-at-home son is still working toward his college degree as 30 approaches, but her job at the car dealership is what keeps her going. And then Walter Flood walks in to the showroom, and everything changes for Becky. Walters a millionaire and a bit awkward socially, but hes immediately smitten with Becky; he assumes shes a widow, and for whatever reason, she doesnt disabuse him of the notion. Now Becky has two lives -- her new, exciting dream world with Walter, and her boring home life in the real world. Steven Dietzs play Beckys New Car is about quiet desperation and the drastic things it makes us do.
