More About

Becky is your typical middle-age, working-class mom. Her marriage has become nothing more than a comfortable convenience, and her live-at-home son is still working toward his college degree as 30 approaches, but her job at the car dealership is what keeps her going. And then Walter Flood walks in to the showroom, and everything changes for Becky. Walter’s a millionaire and a bit awkward socially, but he’s immediately smitten with Becky; he assumes she’s a widow, and for whatever reason, she doesn’t disabuse him of the notion. Now Becky has two lives -- her new, exciting dream world with Walter, and her boring home life in the real world. Steven Dietz’s play Becky’s New Car is about quiet desperation and the drastic things it makes us do. Insight Theatre Company opens its new season with Becky’s New Car at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (June 9 through 19) at the Heagney Theatre (530 East Lockwood Avenue, Webster Groves; 314-556-1293 or www.insighttheatrecompany.com). Tickets are $25 to $30.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: June 9. Continues through June 19, 2011
