Get In Gear

As any seasoned gearhound can tell you, searching for that elusive piece of musical equipment can be a lonely task — scouring want ads and trolling Craigslist postings starts to feel a little sinful after a while. But twice a year, St. Louis' audiophiles, videographers and recordists take a break from their grail quests to converge at the GEARage Sale, where they can sell and swap their audio, video and musical tools. Some of the city's professional recording studios, like SmithLee Productions and Firebrand Recording, will be unloading top-shelf swag. This year the GEARage Sale takes place, appropriately enough, at the Firebird (2706 Olive Street; 314-535-0353) and runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is free to attend, and there is likewise no fee to hawk your old gear. E-mail justin@smithlee.com to reserve a table or request more information.
