Nothing for Nothing

Love. The Supremes advise that you can't hurry it, while Foreigner frets that it isn't always on time. Meat Loaf would do anything for it (except that). Few topics captivate the human imagination more than amour, and the great William Shakespeare contributed quite a bit to the canon o' love. Much Ado About Nothing is one of his sweetest and funniest reflections on the issue, and also one of his most poignant. The Riverside Shakespeare Theatre Co., which produces St. Charles' "Shakespeare in the Park" events, presents Much Ado at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (June 16 through 18) at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday (June 24 and 25) and 5 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at Frontier Park (South Main Street and First Capitol Drive, St. Charles; www.riversidetheatreco.org). Suki Peters directs a talented cast of performers, who take on the roles of starry-eyed lovebirds Claudio and Hero, feisty quarrelers Beatrice and Benedick, playful plotter Don Pedro, and destructive connivers Don John and Borachio. Both admission and parking are free, and concessions are available for purchase.
