Free Pastry!

Charm begets charm, which is why the lovely Map Room Coffee & Wine House (1901 Withnell Avenue; 314-776-3515 or www.themaproomstl.com) indulges its patrons by showing movies. The adorable Benton Park nook serves unique and tasty drinks as well as nibbles of tortes and tarts, and is no stranger to the baked good. So it worked out favorably for St. Louisan Christopher Spirit B. when he propositioned the Map Room about premiering his full-length feature animated film, The Pastry Tavern. The film offers an unusual and interesting story of an antlered pig and a living corpse (though not a zombie) who create sweet treats in the dark corners of the forest and serve them to serpents in their tavern. One particularly dark day, a group of avian-esque creatures wander in and explain that unless they are served the best food they have ever had, there will be deadly consequences for the workers. The Pastry Tavern starts rolling at 9 p.m. but a meet and greet at 7:30 p.m. ensures your chance to chat with the creators and voice actors. Admission is free, and the screening takes place in the Map Room's garden.
