On the occasion of our nation's birth, it's tempting to wax eloquent about what makes our country great and about what truly captures the American experience. And while many will trot out the hot dogs, Slip 'n Slides and sparklers for this annual bacchanal, it's hard to imagine a more American moment than watching the St. Louis Cardinals take on the Cincinnati Reds. It's a picture-perfect image: Cardinal Nation is already decked out in two-thirds of our national color scheme. (Come to think of it, Reds fans will be similarly attired.) But what is the Fourth of July about if not unity, right?). Game time is set for 5:15 p.m. today, and with any luck, the fireworks that shoot from Busch Stadium (Broadway and Poplar Street) after each home run will serve as a precursor to the fiery spectacle from nearby Fair Saint Louis. Remaining tickets are $9 to $110, and are available by phone at 314-345-9000 or visit www.stlcardinals.com.
